While overall two-wheeler sales have seen an increase, scooter sales saw a decline for Hero last month. That said, motorcycle sales have seen positive growth for Hero. Last month, Hero’s motorcycle sales registered sales of 4,73,228 units as compared to selling 4,04,474 units in June 2023.

In June 2024, Hero’s scooter sales have seen a decline in sales compared to June last year. Hero sold 30,220 scooters last month compared to selling 32,519 units in June 2023.

In June, Hero MotoCorp recorded its highest ever dispatches for the Vida V1 electric scooter, and the company will be expanding its EV range in the coming months with products in the mid and mass segments.

Hero MotoCorp has witnessed a 15 percent YoY growth in June, having recorded sales of 5.03 lakh units. In terms of domestic sales, the company recorded sales of 491,416 units, translating to a 16 percent YoY growth. During the quarter end in June, Hero recorded sales of 15.35 lakh, a YoY growth of 13.5 percent.

Good morning everyone, and we are back on day two, reporting sales numbers and growth of OEMs for June 2024. More sales numbers are expected today and let’s begin.

Revival in two-wheeler sales, especially rural demand seems to be picking up. The two-wheeler sales data released so far indicates that nearly 6 of India’s most dominant two-wheeler manufacturers with 80-85% share of the domestic sales maintained a steady growth compared to the sales last June. The momentum is strong across various motorcycle segments including the volume heavy entry-level segment.

While most two-wheeler makers and four-wheeler makers have announced their sales numbers, more are expected to roll in tomorrow- July 2. OEMs such as Hero MotoCorp, Royal Enfield, Honda Motorcycles, Honda Cars, and others will be announcing their numbers shortly.

Commenting on Suzuki’s sales performance, Devashish Handa – Executive Vice President, Sales, Marketing and After Sales, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. said, “We are pleased with our sales growth in June 2024 driven by strong demand especially in the Indian market. We have got off to a good start in this financial year, with a healthy 15% year-on-year growth in our sales in the first quarter.”

Suzuki sold a total 2,99,176 two-wheelers in India in Q1 FY 2023-24 including 2,51,185 units in the domestic market and 47,991 units exported in the foreign markets.

During the same period in the previous fiscal, Suzuki is sold 2,60,784 two-wheelers including 1,97,358 units in the domestic market and 63,426 units exported in the foreign markets.

Toyota Kirloskar recorded the biggest growth in car sales in June, at 41%. Interestingly nearly one-third of Toyota’s cars are made by Maruti. Toyota and Maruti Suzuki India had inked a pact in 2019 for product-sharing. This helped the carmakers to rein in cost and also increase volume. Some of the popular Maruti products that are rebadged by Toyota include Glanza which is a rebadged Maruti Baleno. The others include Urban Cruiser Hyryder, that’s a Grand Vitara rebadged and the rebadged Ertiga is sold as the Rumion. Maruti Suzuki’s Invicto is a rebadged version of the Toyota Innova Hycross.

Maruti’s June exports saw a strong uptick. On a year-on-year comparison, exports zoomed 57 percent from last June at 31,033 units. Speaking on the company’s sales performance, Rahul Bharti, Executive Officer, Corporate Affairs, Maruti Suzuki India said, “The fire test of global competitiveness in technology, quality, cost and performance is in exports. Customers in India are also likely to choose models which they know are favourites of customers across many countries of the world. Maruti Suzuki contributes about 42% of all car exports from India.”

Suzuki Motorcycles has registered total sales of 88,287 two-wheelers in June 2024, out of which 71,086 units account for domestic sales and 17,201 units were part of the exports. Suzuki’s total sales saw a growth of 9 percent while domestic sales saw a YoY growth of 13 percent.

Electric vehicles sales stood at 15,859 units in June 2024, registering a strong 10 percent YoY growth. In June 2023, TVS sold 14,462 electric vehicles.

TVS’ motorcycle sales accounted for 1,52,701 units in June 2024 as compared to 1,48,208 units in June 2023, registering a YoY growth of 3 percent, while scooters accounted for 1,28,986 units in June 2024 and growing 6 percent.

TVS has recorded total two-wheeler sales of 3,22,168 units in June 2024, registering a YoY growth of 6 percent. In June, domestic two-wheeler sales accounted for 2,55,734 units registering 8 percent YoY growth.

Ola Electric has registered sales of 36,716 units in June 2024 (As per Vahan Portal), growing 107 percent compared to June 2023. During Q1 FY25, Ola recorded 1.08 lakh registrations, a 57 percent growth over the first quarter of FY24.

Tata Motors has seen a decline in CV sales as well in June 2024. Last month, the company sold 31,980 units as compared to selling 34,314 units in June 2023. In othe overall sales, domestic sales stood at 30,623 units as compared to 33,148 units, witnessing a decline of 8 percent.

Tata Motors‘ total domestic PV sales for June 2024 stood at 43,624 units, as compared to selling 47,359 units in June 2023, registering a negative growth of 8 percent. During Q1 FY25, Tata sold 138,682 units, registering a negative 1 percent YoY growth.

Commercial vehicles for Bajaj registered total sales of 54,831 units in June 2024, which includes domestic sales of 39,244 units, a YoY increase of 16 percent, and exports accounting to 15,587 units, a YoY growth of 14 percent.

Bajaj’s domestic two-wheeler sales in June 2024 stood at 1,77,207 units, a 7 percent YoY growth compared to June 2023. Last month, Bajaj’s two-wheeler exports saw a 1 percent decline, registering 1,26,439 units. Overall, combining domestic sales and exports, Bajaj saw a 3 percent YoY growth.

Atul Auto has registered sales of 2,628 units in June 2024 compared to selling 1,267 units in June 2023, registering 107 percent growth. During the April to June period, the company’s sales stood at 6,651 units, registering 115 percent growth.

VE Commercial Vehicles’ exports stood at 7,424 units in June 2024, registering a YoY growth of 10.6 percent. In comparison, VECV exported 6,715 units in June 2023.

VECV, an unlisted subsidiary of Eicher Motors, has registered domestic sales of 6,893 units in June 2024 compared to selling 6,277 units in June 2023, witnessing a YoY growth of 9.8 percent.

Ashok Leyland has registered sales of 14,261 units in Kune 2024 as compared to selling 14,363 units the year before, witnessing a 0.7 percent decline. The company’s overall exports for the month of June has also seen a decline at 14,940 units as compared to June 2023’s 15,221 units.

Maruti Suzuki‘s only offering in the compact sedan segment, the Ciaz, registered sales of 572 units, a YoY decline of 67 percent. The Ciaz is yet to get a refresh, especially compared to its closest competitor, the Hyundai Verna, which saw a complete makeover.

Maruti Suzuki‘s only commercial vehicle on offer, the Super Carry, has seen a decline in sales last month. Maruti Suzuki sold 2,758 units of the Super Carry as compared to selling 2,992 units in June 2023.

The Creta has been a key driver for Hyundai‘s Domestic H1 sales in 2024 with 91,348 units sold, a growth of 11% over same period last year. Creta received a major facelift in January this year. Overall, SUVs accounted for 66% of Hyundai’s domestic sales in H1 CY2024.

Maruti Suzuki has registered sales of 1,37,160 units of PVs in June 2024 witnessing a 3.1 percent YoY growth. Maruti Suzuki’s Mini and Compact segment has seen a decline, while its UV category has seen an increase.

Hyundai recorded a total domestic sale of 3,09,772 units in H1 CY2024. This resulted in a 4.65% growth. During the same period, Hyundai exported 76,000 units to overseas markets, resulting in a 10.11% growth.
