New Delhi: Indkal Technologies is expecting to cross Rs 2,000 crore in gross revenue this year, with a target to more than double that figure to approximately Rs 4,500 crore by 2025-26 as it focuses on innovation, distribution, and expanding its product lines, Anand Dubey, CEO of Indkal Technologies told ETRetail in an exclusive interview.

The company has been EBITDA positive and reported a growth rate of 200-300 percent over the past few years. Moving forward, it aims to capture a high single-digit market share across its product categories as it continues scaling in India.

Discussing India’s consumer electronics landscape, Dubey said that the industry is benefiting from macroeconomic trends, such as more affordable electricity and increasingly efficient products, which are reducing the cost of both purchasing and operating electronic devices.

Highlighting the impact of rising disposable incomes and improving employment rates, particularly in smaller towns and cities, Dubey said, “Indian customers are becoming more discerning, expecting superior quality and the latest technology in the products they purchase.”

This shift has prompted Indkal Technologies to develop a ‘house of brands‘ catering to various consumer segments and price points. Dubey explained, “We’re building brands that cover everything from entry-level to premium, all while maintaining a strong value system.”

Within Indkal’s brand portfolio, Wobble offers high-end televisions at competitive prices, Acer provides premium yet affordable consumer electronics, and Black & Decker focuses on performance and design for large appliances like washing machines and refrigerators, Dubey elaborated.

Building Acer and Wobble Smartphone Business

The company is planning to launch a range of smartphones under the Acer and Wobble brands in January 2025.

Looking ahead, Dubey is bullish about the company’s potential in the smartphone market. “We’re investing significant resources into developing a wide range of smartphones for Indian consumers, from entry-level to premium offerings under the Acer brand. This will be a major focus for the next 24 months,” he said.

“We expect the industry to at least double or triple in size over the next five to seven years, and we’re positioning ourselves to be a key player in that growth,” Dubey added.

Expansion and Investment Plans

Indkal has been focusing on growing its omnichannel presence, with operations in more than 12,000 retail stores across India. While its business has been largely skewed towards offline sales, Dubey expects this trend to continue for large appliances, which perform better in physical retail settings. “Offline channels currently contribute around 60 percent of our business, and we anticipate this figure will grow in the next 24 months,” he said.

On the manufacturing side, the company plans to strengthen its position in televisions while heavily investing in its smartphone business in India. Earlier this year, Indkal raised $36 million to support its product development, focusing on smartphones, televisions, and large appliances.
