The next generation of Pixel is almost upon us.
Google will officially announce the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro later today, though it’s already revealed pretty much everything about the phones already.
However, other new hardware and software announcements are also expected at the Made by Google event. Here’s everything you need to know about it, including how to watch live.
When is the next Google event?
Google has confirmed that its next event will take place today, 4 October.. It’ll begin at 10am in New York City – here’s how that translates around the world:
- UK: 3:00pm BST
- US West Coast: 7:00am PT
- US East Coast: 10:00am ET
- Central Europe: 4:00pm CET
If last year’s event is anything to go by, it should last for just over an hour.

How to watch the Google event live
Google owns YouTube, so it should come as no surprise that you’ll be able to watch live on the video sharing site.
Simply head to the Made by Google YouTube channel, or watch the embedded stream below.
Alternatively, the event should also be available to watch via the Google Store.
What to expect from the Google event
New hardware is usually the main focus of Google’s event at this time of the year, and it won’t be any different in 2023.
Google has already confirmed that the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will be launching at the event. Almost everything has been revealed about both new phones, but there are a few things we still don’t know, including price.
In the description of a sneak peek video, Google has also revealed that the Pixel Watch 2 will be announced. Various upgrades over the original have been rumoured, including a better Snapdragon chipset and new sensors.
While this hasn’t been confirmed, the video below also briefly shows what looks like an earbud. It means we could be getting a follow-up to the Pixel Buds Pro.
However, it probably won’t all be hardware. Google has already announced Android 14‘s main new features, but this could be when a release date is announced. The Pixel 8 and 8 Pro are likely to ship running the new version of Android.
It’s too soon for an update to the Pixel Tablet, though, which only launched in May.
