The ITV app has been strangely absent from one of the most popular home entertainment boxes for years. Today, that changes, as ITVX is now available on Sky Q.
The app had previously been available on other Sky devices, such as Sky Glass and Sky Stream, but wasn’t available on the set-top box. The previous ITV streaming app, ITV Hub, was also never fully available on Sky Q. Customers could only watch ITV content via Sky’s own on-demand library, and via the TV channels.
If you have Sky Q and want to start using ITVX, you don’t need to do anything: it should be available on the apps rail of the homepage from today.
With ITVX, customers can watch live linear shows such as Emmerdale, Coronation Street and Love Island, plus stream previous ITV classics such as Broadchurch and White House Farm. They also have the ability to catch up on shows on-demand, and watch some shows before they air on linear TV channels.
ITVX is free to sign up for, but includes adverts. If you want ad-free viewing on non-live programming, then you can sign up for ITVX Premium. It costs £5.99 per month or £59.99 per year, but also gets you access to BritBox Originals such as A Spy Among Friends and Tell Me Everything.
