Apple Could Give the Vanilla iPhone 15 a Pro-Grade Camera

iPhone-14-Pro-Camera

In recent years, Apple has been increasingly differentiating its iPhone Pro/Pro Max smartphones from the regular iPhone. For example, the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max deliver major camera upgrades over the 13 model. On the other hand, the vanilla iPhone 14 is virtually the same as the vanilla iPhone 13.

That approach has left sales of the standard iPhone models lagging behind in recent years. However, a new report suggests Apple is about to provide more Pro-level features to next year’s vanilla iPhone 15. Specifically, the company is reportedly looking to place “Pro” cameras onto the more affordable model.

According to analyst Jeff Pu of Haitong Intl Tech Research, sources in Apple’s supply chain suggest the company will use a 48MP primary camera in its standard iPhone 15, with three sensors in total. This would match the configuration currently on the iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max.

Considering cameras are one of the main selling points of smartphones – especially at flagship price points – Apple must be cooking up a bumper sensor for the iPhone 15 Pro models. In other words, the company won’t be using the same sensors as the standard iPhone 15. If the vanilla model already has a pro-level camera, the actual Pro devices will need to have a very special configuration.

USB-C

Elsewhere, Pu suggests that the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will have a USB-C point instead of Apple’s normal Lightning. This would have been a non-starter a few months ago. However, India and the European Union are forcing electronic companies to use USB-C universally. Those regulations are forcing Apple to comply and remove the Lightning port.

Tip of the day: To prevent attackers from capturing your password, Secure Sign-in asks the user to perform a physical action that activates the sign-in screen. In some cases, this is a dedicated “Windows Security” button, but the most common case in Windows is the Ctrl+Alt Del hotkey. In our tutorial, we show you how to activate this feature.
