10 Cars That Get the Most Speeding Tickets in Minnesota

Just like all drivers are not created equal, so is it when it comes to cars and speeding tickets in Minnesota. Some vehicles just seem to get more tickets than others– and we have a list of the 10 that are most likely to get nabbed for exceeding the speed limit.

Here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, while there are many forms of public or mass transit (like this year’s new daily train route linking the Twin Cities with Chicago), we love driving– and we love our vehicles, right? There are a LOT of licensed drivers currently behind the wheel here in Minnesota. According to Statista, 4,143,272 citizens hold a current driver’s license here in the North Star State.

Of course, many of the over 4 million licensed drivers are often found on the interstates, highways, and roads that crisscross our fair state. Statista notes that the most recent estimates put the number of private and commercial vehicles on the road here in the Bold North in 2024 at just over 2.1 million. That’s a lot of vehicles!

But, as we said earlier, not all vehicles (and drivers) are created equal. Some vehicles  are just more likely to get a ticket– if you’re caught going faster than the legal limit, that is. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety noted that just under 300 law enforcement agencies across the state handed out over 20,000 speeding tickets during a recent crackdown, noting that ‘speed is a major contributing factor to fatal and life-changing crashes.’

And check out fast some Minnesotans were clocked driving:

  • 152 mph – Eden Prairie Police Department
  • 140 mph – Minnesota State Patrol District 2400 (east metro)
  • 130 mph – St. Francis Police Department
  • 130 mph – Winona County Sheriff’s Office
  • 118 mph – Anoka County Sheriff’s Office

But some cars have a higher percentage of drivers who’ve been issued a speeding ticket. Insurify crunched the numbers to find out the car brands with the most speeding tickets. They scoured their database of more than 4.6 million car insurance applications and found that the national average was 7.1 percent of drivers have been cited for speeding.

These 10 car brands, however, reported a higher percentage than the national average. Did YOUR car make the Insurify list?
